The famous gaming magazine PC Gamer has published on the December/2005 issue a very polemic article regarding the new version of Flight Simulator, named FS X. In this article, they say that the new Flight Simulator X promises to be well worth the upgrade for several reasons. "The graphical differences between this version and the last, which debuted more than two years ago, are huge. FS X is designed to take full advantage of the gaming enhancements made possible by the upcoming Windows Vista, including DirectX 10". The visual improvements mentioned can be found in the aircraft's realistic lighting effects on reflective paint, glass and chrome with shadings on every element and on the new weather engine.
They also say that we'll still be able to fly all over the world, but this time in a much more realistic environment: cars, trucks and even animals are modelled and contribute to the new graphic technology. The over 24,000 airports around the world weren't left unchanged... they should now feature fuel trucks, baggage carts and jetways. "A few of the notable additions to the already impressive roaster of flyable planes are the DG Flugzeugbau 808S Glider, classic seaplanes like the de Havilland Beaver and Grumman Goose, and passenger planes like the Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321." The magazine also says the Flight Simulator X should be released in February, 2006, making a large number of simmers skeptical.
